Well, the inevitable has happened : Mike Nolan was fired today in San Fransisco. It was rumoured that this would happen as early as next week but the 49er's decided to make the decision sooner rather than later. The 49er's had started the season at 2-5 despite there being a lot of pre-season expectations for this club. Sunday's loss to the NY Giants left Nolan with a dismal 18-37 record since becoming the 49er's head coach. In fact, in the three full seasons he has coached the team, they had yet to have a winning record. Assistant Head Coach Mike Singletary has taken over at Interim Head Coach, although he is expected to offered the job on a permanent basis at some point.
